When her mother was pregnant she used an MP3 player and it allowed her to listen to all kinds of music, which is why she thinks she is so interested in music.
As a child she practiced daizu dance, a typical dance of her country of origin; China.
She became interested in K-Pop in high school and liked the concept from the beginning. Girl Crush.
In 2014 she auditioned for CUBE Entertainment in Beijing. After that audition she was contacted to have a second audition in Korea. Her parents flatly refused but she insisted so much that her parents finally said, “Yuqi, do whatever you want. “Upon arriving in Korea she passed the final audition, happening that in 2015.
She is a model for the cosmetics brand “Rising Star Cosmetics”.
She appeared in an episode of The World’s Temperature in which she asked some random people to listen to her singing and make comments, and she received many words of encouragement and support.
On April 8, 2018, she and Mi Yeon were confirmed as members of (G)I-DLE.
Appeared on the dingo channel together with Soo Jin dancing a remix with various girl group dances.
Appeared in the Rising Legends CUBE x SOOMPI promotional video.
