Biography

Yoona was born on May 30, 1990 in Seoul, South Korea. In 2002, Yoona joined SM Entertainment through SM Saturday Open Casting Audition, in which she sang “Please” by WAX, and danced “Oops!… I did it again” by Britney Spears and “Valenti” by BoA. Since joining the agency, she was put to train with other trainees in different areas such as singing, acting and dancing, her training period lasted 5 years and 2 months. Before her official debut in the industry, Yoona appeared in several music videos of various SM Entertainment groups such as: “Magic Castle” by TVXQ in 2004, “U” by Super Junior and “My Everything” by The Grace in 2006.

Girls’Generation debut

On August 5, 2007, Yoona became an official member of the new group of SM Entertainment, Girls’ Generation in the position of Vocalist, Rapper and Dancer.

Yoona made her acting debut in 2007 with the drama Two Outs in the Ninth Inning.

In 2008 she participated in the drama Woman of Matchless Beauty and in the same year, she had her first starring role in the daily drama You Are My Destiny achieving important recognition in the acting field.

In 2009, YoonA starred in the drama Cinderella Man alongside Kwon Sang Woo.

In 2012, YoonA returned to acting through Love Rain, which she starred in alongside Jang Keun Suk. The drama began airing on March 26, 2012 on KBS2.

In mid-2012, YoonA participates in SM Town’s biopic called I AM.

In late 2013, YoonA starred in Prime Minister and I alongside Lee Beom Soo. The drama was produced by SM C&C, and premiered on December 9, 2013 via KBS2.

March 9, 2016, SM Entertainment reported that the following artist will participate in the project SM Station sera YoonA with the digital single ‘Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway’. will be attended by the members of 10cm and will be released on March 11 through various music sites.

2017: Single for SM Station “When The Wind Blows”.

On September 8, 2017 Yoona released the new single “When the Wind Blows, is an acoustic ballad song with soft guitar sounds, featuring YoonA’s charming voice. It has Chinese version, YoonA participated in writing the lyrics, and the music video shows her recalling some memories of a lover.

2018: I’m back with the single “TO YOU.”

On May 13, 2018 Yoona released the new single “To You “, The song was created during the show “Hyori’s Homestay 2”, when Lee Sang Soon composed the song and YoonA wrote the lyrics. The acoustic ballad shows images of Jeju Island scenery, and the lyrics express memories of YoonA’s time with Lee Hyori, Lee Sang Soon and the homestay guests.

2019: Special Album “A Walk To Remember”.

May 23, 2019 SM Entertainment reported that Yoona will release a special album titled “A Walk To Remember”. The title song “Summer Night” will be a ballad in collaboration with the artist “20 Years of Age” and will be fully available on May 30.
