Through her personal Intragram account, Baek Yerin shared the news that she would be leaving JYP Entertainment after 12 years with the agency and start her own independent label.
He took to Instagram to post a thank you letter to the agency.
“Hi, I’m Yerin!.
Suddenly the weather turned cold, are you all right? Sadly, my contract with JYP is up on September 14..
I have been working hard in JYP for the past 12 years, since I was in elementary school. I received the gift of great opportunities and although I still lack, they taught me many things as I became the person I am now and gave me gifts. I am so grateful to the president who worked together with me for so long and played a role that was sometimes like my dad and sometimes like my teacher and guardian, to Park Jin Young (we decided to be best friends now) and to everyone in JYP..
Also, with the help of those around me, I will start an independent label. I feel sad too because we had been together for so long and doing something by myself is a little scary, but I want to gain strength and make you guys hear a lot of great stuff..
I will continue to improve – I am forever grateful for the support and love you give me!”.
On November 6, Baek Yerin posted on her Instagram, which reads. “Hi! It’s been a long time – this is my independent label account! From now on, you’ll be able to hear various news from me around here!”.
Her independent label is called Blue Vinyl, which she founded herself after her contract with JYP ended and she left the company.
Back with her first studio album “Every letter I sent you”.
On November 22, teaser images were released through the official accounts of the agency, Blue Vinyl. The text announced that it would make public its new release on December 10.
His agency, Blue Vinyl, shared the information that the upcoming release would be an album with new music and also songs that were only revealed on Baek Yerin’s SoundCloud previously.
The seal commented “It will be the best gift of the year for fans who have been waiting for Baek Yerin’s unreleased songs for a long time.” and added “He is currently in the final stages of album production.”.
His first studio album “Every letter I sent you” was released on December 10 at 6PM KST. The album contains two CDs of nine songs each, eighteen songs in total; the promotional songs are three, “Popo (How deep is our love?)” , “0310” and “Square (2017)” baek Yerin wrote the lyrics of the song in English and co-composed it.
According to Baek Yerin, “This album reflects memories, dilemmas and thought processes I had from the time I was nineteen to twenty-three years old.Without a specific address, I’ve been sending my feelings in the form of songs. And I’m very happy that I can finally send them to everyone. This album is my way of thanking everyone who has loved me and supported my journey as a musician.”.
“Popo (How deep is our love?)” is a romantic song in which Yerin serenades her potential lover with a poem of sorts. Her diction hints not only at the fulfillment of a one-sided love, but also at the pursuit of adventure, the desire to “run together” as the two “turn away from her [the world’s] cruelty.” The chorus further weaves a sweet fairy-tale dream through a simple composition of words. The drums and acoustic instruments create a cute and charming atmosphere, while the light jazz tones at the end make it a perfect nighttime track.
“0310” is more of a light ballad that explores the difference between love and worth, from appreciating her lover’s small gestures, to making sure she’s okay with her leaving despite the resulting loneliness. They may have loved each other, but the contrast in goals and how they individually approached their love may have made a difference. Still, the song ending with “You smoked and looked at me / I hate it when you do” implies an apparent lack of closure, as Yerin focuses on this last act that ultimately divided her heart between truth and desire.
“Square (2017)” is a simply “catchy” ballad, as a variety of instruments seem to “crash” at once to hook the listener. The entrance is both powerful and dreamy, despite it being a ballad. The instruments remain incomparable with Yerin’s powerful singing, as these two parts take hand in hand to create a truly moving song that touches anyone’s heart. The lyrics are of the love she feels for another man.
December 10 at 11PM KST, “Square (2017)” took the No.1 spot on all major real-time charts in Korea: Melon, Genie, Bugs, Soribada and FLO. By 2:30PM KST on December 12, “Square (2017)” obtained a certified all-kill.
“Every Letter I Sent You” received generally positive reviews from music critics and debuted at number two on Gaon’s weekly chart, selling over 35,000 copies.
The physical album was also released in an LP version, a first limited version released on May 11, 2020 and a reissue of the same released on August 7, 2020.

The album contains fourteen tracks in total, with two main songs to promote “Hate You” and “0415” yerin participated in the writing of most of the songs; less in “Ms. Delicate” and “Bubbles&Mushrooms” all the songs on the album are in English and cover different genres of music such as R&B, deep house, synth-pop, modern rock and dream pop.
“0415” is a house track that was composed and written by Baek Yerin and arranged by herself together with Cloud and Bang Minhyuk, which she wrote at a time when she was afraid of meeting new people and opening up to them.
“Hate You” was written and composed by Baek Yerin and arranged by herself together with Cloud and Bang Minhyuk. The lyrics describe a toxic relationship, how that person is someone who doesn’t deserve her, as she is the only one who really cares about him.
Billboard chose “tellusboutyourself” as one of the “Top 10 K-pop albums of 2020 (chosen by critics),” and contributor Joshua Minsoo Kim wrote “You can hear the sound of [ t ] ellusboutyourself by saying the title out loud: it’s casual, conversational and intimate. As always, Yerin Baek sings with a firm conviction that belies her elegant voice, transforming the simplest lyrics into immersive pools of emotion. The truths she conveys can be hard to swallow, so she allows the diaphanous instrumentation to provide a welcoming ambience.”.
2021: Back with the Mini-Album “tellusboutyourself Remix”.
On Feb. 11 and 12, image teasers were posted on Instagram to announce the launch of “tellusboutyourself Remixes”. which is a remix album containing six remixed songs from her second studio album “tellusboutyourself” the album was released on February 16 at 6PM KST.
