Biography

Thunder was born on October 7, 1990, in Busan, South Korea. When he was around 4 years old, his family moved to the Philippines. He studied at Pasay Chung Hua Academy (PPCHA), where he learned to speak English and Filipino. His family finally moved back to Korea around 2007. He auditioned for JYP Entertainment and eventually became an apprentice in Loen Entertainmentwhere he became close to IU to finally debut through J.Tune Camp as a member of the male group, MBLAQ in 2009.

At the end of 2014, he did not re-sign with J.Tune Camp despite the termination of his contract, Thunder was part of the concert at the end of his contract, and was able to perform as part of the MBLAQ mBLAQ Curtain Call, which took place on November 29-30, 2014.

On February 11, 2015, it is announced that Thunder signed a contract at APOP Entertainment a music label under Mystic Entertainment directed by producer Cho Young Chul.

APOP Entertainment explained “Producer Cho Young Chul has known him since before his debut (at MBLAQ). Thunder was an apprentice at Loen Entertainment, even appearing on IU’s “Christmas Advance,” which was produced by producer Cho.”.

On September 27, 2018, Mystic Entertainment revealed, “Thunder recently terminated his contract with Mystic and will begin his independent activities after establishing the independent agency ‘Lighthouse.’ Producer Kazef, singers and songwriters Leno and Yel, and other musicians who have worked with Thunder will join Lighthouse.”.
