Biography

Tae Yang’s first appearance in the entertainment industry was with Maddie in hip-hop group Jinusean’s music video “A-yo.” The collaboration eventually led him to successfully audition for the group’s record label YG Entertainment, where he became one of the rappers along with fellow trainee G-Dragon and former student (now a member of 2PM ) Jun. K although Tae Yang was scheduled to make his debut together with G-Dragon as the duo GDYB, the plan was scrapped by their record label. Instead, they were joined by four other participants (T.O.P, Dae Sung, Seung Ri and Seung Hyun ) to form the group BIGBANG he chose the stage name Taeyang (Korean: 태양, meaning sun/Sun), Taeyang abandoned the idea of rapping to focus on singing as the group’s lead vocalist. Within the group, Taeyang was able to draw attention to himself as a talented artist within the genres and variations of R&B, soul and hip hop. His vocal style has received cheers from the public as a voice made for these genres, and many gave a heated welcome to his solo performance.
