Biography

Soyeon was born on October 5, 1987, in Andong, North Gyeongsang, South Korea. Her birth name was Park In Jung, but she officially changed her name to Park So-yeon. In 2005, she participated and was awarded the gold prize (1st Place) for the CMB Chin Chin Singing Contest. Soyeon has studied at the prestigious Anyang College of Arts, located in Anyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea.

Soyeon was formerly an apprentice under SM Entertainment, to become a member of Girls Generationhowever, she left the company six months before her debut due to personal circumstances. After making her debut with T-ARA she revealed in the program Taxi that at the time she felt that the opportunity came so easily and she was in two minds, not fully prepared for the debut.

SoYeon (T-ARA) Career

Soyeon was the second new member to be added to T-ara after two former members, Ha Na (Jiae) and Yang Ji Won they left the group in mid 2009 (Pre-Debut).

In 2010, Soyeon was rushed to the hospital after complaints of not feeling well during the filming of her cameo in Master Of Study, then was diagnosed with H1N1 flu, T-arawas still promoting the follow-up track “Like The First Time,” off her first full-length album, Breaking Heart.

Soyeon participated in the musical adaptation of the hit movie ‘Roly-Poly’, which opened on January 13, 2012 at the Sungnam Arts Center. She stated that it is one of her dreams to stand on stage and perform in it.

She replaced Hyo Min as the new leader of T-arajanuary 1, 2012, for the “Lovey Dovey” promotions. It is T-ara’s fourth leader after Ham Eun Jung, Bo Ramy Hyo Min in July 2013, Soyeon transferred its leadership to Qri the company was the fifth leader of the group.

On May 7, the MBK agency stated that they were unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with Soyeon and Jeon Bo Ram related to the renewal of the contract, giving the end of the contract on May 15, being T-ARA as a group of four members.
