  • In September 2010, he was charged with draft evasion, a jailable offense in Korea and a dishonor to the country. One of his dentists accused him of paying him to have two of his teeth pulled so that he could not fulfill his compulsory military service. Mong strongly denied these accusations. However, on October 10, he was officially charged with violation of military service laws by the Seoul Central Court.
  • After 4 trials, on April 11, 2011, he was acquitted of intentionally pulling healthy teeth to be exempt from military service, but was sentenced to a suspended jail sentence of 6 months, probation for one year and 120 hours of community service, for deliberately delaying enlistment with false motives. The court acknowledged that there was a delay in his military enlistment, however, they were unable to determine if he was guilty of pulling teeth in order to avoid his military service.
  • In September 2011, it was reported that Mong was on the list of artists who are banned from appearing on KBS and MBC channels because of the Avoidance Project.
  • On November 3, 2014, he released his new album ‘Miss Me or Diss Me’, after 5 years since his national service controversy. his new album featured many popular K-Pop artists such as Gary, Hyolyn, Bang Min Ah from Girl’s Day, Bumkey, Lyn, Ailee and more.
  • “Love Mash” by MC Mong took the top spot on the charts for two consecutive weeks, despite its lack of promotion. According to Gaon Chart on March 19, “Love Mash” took the top spot on the combined digital and straeming charts from March 8 to 14. It had already been in the top spot the previous week, from March 1 to 8, in three different categories: combined digital chart, download chart and straeming chart.
  • The contract with DreamTea Entertaiment ended at the end of 2017 and he decided not to renew it.
