Kyuhyun’s singing talents were discovered after he won third place in the Chin Chin Singing Competition in 2005, he was a trainee for only 3 months before making his debut, shortly after which he signed a contract with SM Entertainment and appeared in the video of TVXQ (DBSK) although when Kyuhyun was added to the group it was initially an unpleasant surprise and there was much discontent from the fans who originally supported twelve members of Super Junior, Kyuhyun was quickly accepted and recognized by the fans as the thirteenth member of Super Junior.

When Kyuhyun first appeared in the media, he was mysterious and unrecognized. He made his first appearance as part of Super Junior in a news broadcast on May 23, 2006, when the group was releasing its new single, “U” kyuhyun made his debut on May 27, 2006 in SBS i-Concert, singing the new single “U”.

Kyuhyun, was placed in two of the Super Junior subgroups Super Junior K.R.Y and Super Junior M.

Just one month before KyuHyun’s one-year anniversary in Super Junior the early morning of April 19, 2007, he, together with Lee Teuk, Shin Dong, Eun Hyuk and two managers, were hospitalized due to a car accident while returning from Super Junior Kiss The Radio, a late night radio program; the driver lost control of the vehicle causing the van to overturn on its right side. KyuHyun, who was sitting behind the driver’s seat when the accident occurred, was the most injured and sustained a hip fracture, pneumothorax from fractured ribs, scratches and facial bruises. He lost consciousness and was rendered mute by the shock he received. He was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since the night of the accident, but after his quick recovery, he was transferred to a normal room shortly after 6 days. KyuHyun no longer needed the respiratory machine to support his breathing and was able to walk only one month after the accident. He was discharged on July 5, 2007 after 78 days in the hospital.

He was again involved in a car accident on April 8, 2011 at 5:30 am while he was heading to Gwangju (it is approximately 90 minutes away from Seoul) for rehearsals of the musical ‘The Three Musketeers’ in which he is participating. The news reported that the accident took place near Jeongeup where a small collision with a truck occurred while changing lanes. Kyu was taken to Gangnam Hospital in Seoul to treat his injuries which were apparently just bumps on his arms and legs and also some scratches on his hands, but no serious injuries. Due to this, his participation in the musical that day could not be held. Perhaps fearing that he had disappointed his fans who would see him that day in the musical, he communicated through twitter writing, “Sorry, sorry.”.
