Krystal was born on October 24, 1994 in San Francisco, California. In 2002, Krystal began appearing and auditioning in television commercials. Her first appearance was in a Lotte commercial with Korean actress Han Ga In.

After moving to South Korea, Krystal attended Korea Kent Foreign School, and then graduated from Hanlim Performing Arts High School on February 07, 2013, where she was honored with an achievement award. She is currently attending Sungkyunkwan University, majoring in theater. She is bilingual, knowing how to speak English and Korean.

In 2006, her parents finally allowed her to join SM Entertainment the agency then enrolled her in dance classes, including jazz and ballet.


Prior to their debut, SM released a teaser through their YouTube channel on August 24, 2009. For 5 days, SM released individual information through various news portals and posted photos of each member on SM Town’s official website. The group’s first single, “LA chA TA” , was released digitally on September 1, 2009, followed by a 40-second teaser uploaded to YouTube f (x) had its first performance in a program specifically assigned for its debut at the Samseong-dong Fashion Center on September 2, 2009. The MV of “LA chA TA” the group’s first live performance was broadcast for the first time on MBC Music Core on September 5, 2009.

October, f (x) promoted LG Chocolat song for a cell phone brand together with label mates Girls ‘Generation. both groups released their own version of the song “Chocolate Love”, featuring f (x) in an electro-pop version, on October 8, 2009.

The group released their first physical single, ” Chu ~ ♥ “, on November 9, 2009, and a month later they appeared as special guests at the “Girls’ Generation Into the New World” concert held at the Olympic Fencing Gymnasium on December 19-20, 2009.

The members of f (x) began to gain popularity for displaying a different style of fashion, music and choreography and with Krystal being the younger sister of Jessica and for having a similar facial appearance of Yoona.

In addition to participating in the songs of F (x). Krystal and Moon they also have some of their own duets which include You’re my Destiny and Sorry, Dear Daddy. Other songs by the duo accompanied by Amber are Good Bye Summer and Beautiful Stranger.

SM The Ballad

SM The Ballad is a ballad group formed in 2010, consisting of several artists from S.M. On February 3, 2014, it was announced that S.M. The Ballad would be making their comeback in that month after more than 3 years of hiatus. It was also announced that all original members were no longer in the group with the exception of Jonghyun from SHINee would be joined by Ye Sung from Super Junior, Zhou Mi from Super Junior M krystal from F (x) Taeyeonfrom Girls’ Generation, Chen from EXO chang Min from TVXQ and the Chinese soloist Zhang Li Yin Yesungbecame an inactive member as she does not promote any songs with the group due to her military enlistment Max Chang Min as well as Yesungbecame an inactive member of the group because although they both recorded music videos with the group, neither of them promotes any song.

Krystal presented at SM the Ballad Vol. 2 in which she has a duet with chen for the track ” When I Was… When U Were… ” and another duet with Changmin for the Japanese version of the title song, “Breath” krystal performed her duet with Chen as for “Breath”, its official music video was released through SM Entertainment’s official YouTube channel.



During 2016, Krystal was very busy filming the Chinese-Korean movie Unexpected Love between March and May, to later begin filming the Chinese drama Graduation Season between June and September.

As a model.

During the summer of 2016, Krystal was appointed as an official model and spokesperson for Tod’s handbags and shoes brand, being chosen as the first Asian girl to be a spokesperson for the brand.

At the end of 2016, Krystal was named as an official model for the shoe brand Keds Global.


Solo Debut.

January 05, 2017, SM Entertainment and Krystal reported that she would be making her solo debut with her first mini album in February, although SM later announced that there was no exact date for Krystal’s solo debut.

Musical projects.

On February 15, 2017, Krystal had a collaboration with Glen Check of indie band KIM JUNE ONE with the song “I Don’t Wanna Love You” The song served as the official song for the opening of BOON THE SHOP clothing store, and it was later announced that a photobook related to the song, in which Krystal collaborates with VOGUE, will be released on March 1.


On February 20, 2017, it was reported that Krystal was in talks to appear in tvN’s new drama Bride of the Water God. In the said drama, Krystal will play a goddess.
