Biography

Pre-Debut

Joshua was born and raised in downtown Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., his parents being Korean, he always managed to master the language, as well as English. From a very young age he learned to play the guitar, played and sang in his church choir.

He was recruited by a manager from PLEDIS Entertainment a Korean festival he attended in L.A., where he played guitar. The company’s manager watched him for a month and then got him to audition remotely because of the great potential he saw in him.

Joshua moved to Korea in late 2012 to begin his training with that company. Three months before his debut, he returned to the U.S. to receive his high school graduation diploma in L.A.

Debut

On May 26, 2015, Joshua officially made his debut in the new group of PLEDIS Entertainment called SEVENTEEN and is part of the group’s Vocal unit together with Seung Kwan, DK, Jeong Han and Woozi.
