About Lee Joo Yeon

In 2006 she participated in the MV “Yutzpracachia”. In 2007 she had a small role in the movie “My Tutor Friend 2”. She appeared in the Show “Introduce Stars Friends” as the best friend of Son Dam Bi.

In 2009, she participated in two MV’s, “Want to Make Trouble” by E.Bul’s and “Betrayed” by Taegoon. Before her debut in the group, she was already famous on the internet as a “Ulzzang”.

In 2014, Jooyeon’s contract with Pledis company ended on December 31 causing her graduation from After School group. She mentioned that she is looking for new challenges focusing more on her acting career. But her contract with Japanese company Avex is still in place so she will continue with After School promotions but in Japan.

In 2015, she signed a contract with Better Ent, a company created by Song Seung Hun.

In January 2018, it was reported that she had concluded her contract with Better Ent. and was evaluating offers from new agencies. Later that month she signed with the agency Mystic Entertainment.

  • She was famous on the Internet as Ulzzang becoming part of the 5 legendary ulzzangs together with Goo Hye Sun.
  • A magazine reported that Jooyeon was reportedly in a relationship with the actor So Ji Sub of 1 year and 4 months (including false comments where both companies stated that they were having an affair) and that the member G.O from MBLAQ negative and positive comments from Internet users began to emerge; however, the companies of both declared that the rumors are false and that they are just friends.
  • Jooyeon was ranked 78th on the list of The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2014.
  • It was confirmed on December 31, 2014 that she would be the next to graduate from After School, as she wants to focus on her acting career and other projects.
  • For her graduation, a fanmeeting was held on January 11, 2015, in which she read an emotional farewell letter to her fans and asked for support for her new projects.
  • On December 31, 2014, Jooyeon’s contract with Pledis Entertainment expired.
  • In January 2015, she signed with new agency Better Ent, taking a new path as an actress.
