On August 6, Jamie took to her Instagram to share her thoughts on her decision to leave her longtime agency, JYP Entertainment. she wrote “The seven years between “K-Pop Star” and now has been a long period of time where I went through middle school, high school and became an adult. I learned a lot and grew up in JYP during that time. This month, my contract with JYP expires..

Instead of trying to define the last seven years with a word like “success,” I think of it as a new beginning in my career.I regret thinking about the songs I couldn’t complete before I left JYP and all the people at the agency who worked hard for me.But above all, I think I gained valuable things during my time at JYP..

Instead of having a brilliant but short career as a singer, I want to work hard with a humble mindset and make the music I want to make, so that I can mature and become a good person who can help the people around her. I think that’s what really defines “success.” If that’s what I take away from my time at JYP, I can leave the agency without any regrets..

I am putting the finishing touches on my latest album with JYP, which will be released in August. Thanks to JYP Nation Studio J and production director (PD) Park Jin Young. I will continue to release good music after I find a good place to work. Please watch me!”.
