Biography

JYPark debuted in 1992 in the group “Park Jin Young Gwa Sinsedae”, which is the release of his first and only album resolves, Two years later he debuted as a solo artist with the album “Blue City”, which featured the song “Don’t Leave Me” which was a smash hit.

In 1997, he founded JYP Entertainment since then he has become one of South Korea’s most successful songwriters and producers, creating smash hits for such artists as Rain, Wonder Girls, 2PM, 2AM, miss A, 15&, GOT7, TWICE, Stray Kids BOYSTORY, ITZY and many others.

  • In 1999 he married Seo Yoon Jeong, however, after 10 years of marriage in March 2009 they announced their divorce.
  • In October 2009, he became the first Korean composer, together with Rainstone, to enter the Billboard Hot 100 with the hit single “Nobody” by Wonder Girls which debuted in 76th place on the chart, causing the eyes of the world to focus on K-Pop for the first time

  • In 2011, composer Kim Sin Il filed a lawsuit against him alleging possible plagiarism of the song “To My Man” with the song “Someday” (performed by IU for the OST of Dream High), even though J.Y.Park had used the same chords several years earlier in a song produced for Rain however, this claim is still in dispute.
  • On October 10, 2013, he married a non-famous woman who is 9 years younger than him and was his muse for the song “You’re The One”.
  • Collaborated with rapper Jessi from Lucky J in his single “Who’s Your Mama” on the recommendation of Suzy.
  • The song “Who’s Your Mama” reached the top of several music charts in South Korea for several consecutive weeks, even taking the top spot away from Miss A who are from the same agency.
  • He earned the first place as the songwriter who earned the most in royalties in 2015, according to the Korean Music Copyright Association.
  • He wrote Very Very Very Very Very Very of the group I.O.I as a reward for So Mi for having debuted in this group
  • He wrote the most recent song by TWICE &“What is love?”
  • On September 22, 2018, Park Jin Young took to Instagram to share a message of gratitude to his colleagues and artists of JYP Entertainment. At the end of his message, he shared the news that he will soon become a father. The baby will be born in January next year.
