- On June 10, 2021, the sentence of Jung Il Hoon’s hearing was made public at the Seoul Central District Court. He was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 133 million won (approximately $119,200) for violating the Narcotics Control Act, etc., and was taken into custody. However, both Jung Ilhoon and the prosecution appealed the sentence.
- On December 16, 2021, after the appellate trial, the superior court sentenced Jung Il Hoon to two years in prison suspended for three years of probation, 40 hours of a drug treatment course, and an additional fine of 120 million won (approximately $101,371). The court stated, “In Jung Ilhoon’s case, he smoked, bought and sold marijuana for a long period of time. However, we took into consideration that he voluntarily stopped selling and smoking marijuana around January 2019, that he had no criminal record, that he tried to prevent recidivism by receiving psychiatric treatment and giving online lectures for drug addiction, and that his family was willing to guide him because he has relatively well-maintained social ties.”
- On December 31, 2020, through a statement his agency confirmed that he left the group after being caught for marijuana use.
Biography
Pre-Debut
Prior to its debut in BTOB ilhoon had replaced the seal mate Yong Jun Hyung during some of the first promotions of G.NA with ‘I’ll Back Off So You Can Live Better’ in music shows, in 2010.
In 2011, Ilhoon (along with 4 other members of the initial lineup of BTOB) made his acting debut in JTBC’s sitcom, “I Live in Cheongdam-dong”.
Debut
On March 13, 2012, CUBE Entertainment announced that the name of their new male idol group would be BTOB (Born To Beat). On the same day, the official website was launched and a video called ‘Film ID’ was unveiled where the group’s name is unveiled and the members’ dancing skills are also showcased.
It was said from the beginning that Ilhoon was on the list of the original members waiting to debut under the name of BTOB , the profiles of the members were released on March 18, 2012 on their official website.
On March 21, 2012, Ilhoon together with BTOB debuted with the music video for Imagine and their first single was released on March 24, 2012. On March 22, they made their official debut at M! Countdown.
2018: Debut as a solo artist with his first mini-album ‘Big Wave’.
February 12, Cube Entertainment revealed that Ilhoon is working hard on self-composed music for his first solo album, and also, that the music video is already being shot. Ilhoon’s solo album is set to be released in March.
Ilhoon has shown his impressive songwriting skills with songs such as Movie from BTOB his song Fancy Shoes of the project Piece of BTOB and Hush! from MIXNINE.
As the days go by, Cube was revealing clues on his Twitter page about Ilhoon’s upcoming album for fans to analyze. After this, it was discovered that one of the songs that will be on the album will be called She’s Gone another call Always Me and a new version of his previous song called Fancy Shoes.
On February 26, the agency revealed some details of Ilhoon’s solo debut. It was confirmed that his debut mini-album will be released on March 8 at 6 PM KST and will be titled Big Wave.
On March 8, Jung Il Hoon made his long-awaited solo debut by releasing his first mini album “Big Wave,” which consists of five songs, all co-composed by Ilhoon.The title track She’s gone the lyrics describe the feelings that someone experiences when they encounter a past love.
