About Gummy

Biography

Gummy trained for 6-7 years before making her debut. Before signing a contract under M.Boat & YG, she was discovered by an agency during her high school days. She trained by recording an album under the agency in 3-4 years. This was never released due to lack of funding and media exposure.

She was introduced to the president of M.Boat Park Kyung Jin through her good friend and singer, Wheesung in 2001, she auditioned for and landed a spot in a group called Big Mama. In the end, the president recognized that she had greater potential to debut as a solo artist. When YG Entertainment and M-Boat dissolved their partnership in 2007, Gummy chose to extend her contract with YG for 4 years to obtain a new contract with M-Boat. On April 12, 2010, YG Entertainment announced plans for Gummy and her label mates to return to M-Boat. BIGBANG, 2NE1 and SE7EN a week later it was revealed that Gummy would be back with a mini-album titled Loveless. A music video plus the full song was released on April 21. Loveless was released on April 29 and its promotions began in May.
