Biography

D.O was born in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea on January 12, 1993. He went to Goyang Poongsan Elementary School, Baekshin Middle School, and Baekseok High School. He has an older brother, Do Seungsoo, who is 3 years older than him. His biggest advantage is his singing ability. Because he likes singing, D.O entered all kinds of singing competitions.

In 2010, it was recommended to the hearing for SM through the S.M Casting System 2010 after winning a local singing festival, he auditioned with the songs ‘Anticipation’. from Na Yoon Kwon and ‘My History from Brown Eyed Soul subsequently, he joined SM Entertainment and had training for the last two years of high school.

Debut

On February 14, D.O. was unveiled as the eighth member of the new group of SM Entertainment, EXO.

D.O. was presented in teaser number 16 together with his partner Suho then on January 29, 2012, the music video for the debut single prolog debut of EXO-K, ‘What Is Love’. together with his partner Baekhyun.

In July 2013, D.O. made a collaboration with f (x) in the song ‘Goodbye Summer’. as part of his second full-length album ‘Pink Tape he was the first member of EXO in collaborating on other artists’ songs.

In December 2013, D.O., together with his colleagues Baekhyun and Chen released a special Christmas ballad titled ‘Miracles in December’. who won several awards at the Music Show, received praise for his singing skills.

In the year 2014, D.O. sang ‘Tell Me What Is Love’. on the first concert tour EXOPLANET: THE LOST PLANET from EXO the song has been specially composed and arranged by the outstanding composer of SM Entertainment Yoo Young Jin.

February 16, 2016, SM Entertainment launched a video prologue of the next artist to participate in its project SM Station reporting that D.O will release the project’s second digital single on February 19, titled ‘Tell Me (What is Love)’. the single was written and arranged by Yoo Young Jin.

Debut Actor

In July 2014, D.O. made his acting debut in the SBS drama, It’s OK, It’s Love starring Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin where he plays Han Kang Woo thanks to this drama, Kyung Soo has received high praise from viewers and actors alike, as he is a difficult character to play as a novice actor.

Kyung Soo was nominated for Best New Actor and to Male Popularity Award for the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards in 2015. He won Best New Actor in the PAN Drama Star Awards d.O. was ranked No. 1 out of 40 idol actors who have participated in dramas.

On September 25, 2016 it was announced that he would star in his first web drama called Positive Physical directed by Lee Byung Heon, the director of the blockbuster film Twenty in which he will play the role of a quirky film school student with a brilliant, quirky personality whose extraordinary passion for cinema makes him stand out from the rest.

On December 12, 2016, it was confirmed that he would participate in a new thrilller called room 7 with Shin Ha Kyun the story of a dead body found in room #7 in a DVD room (an establishment where you can watch movies). DO will be playing the role of the employee who discovers the body in the room while Shin Ha Kyun will act as the owner of the establishment.

On May 17, 2017, it was reported that Kyungsoo would be a new movie called, “Swing Kids”, directed by famous director Kang Hyung Chul. “Swing Kids” is a film that takes place in a concentration camp, during the Korean War. Kyungsoo will be playing Ro Ki Soo, a North Korean soldier prisoner, who falls in love with tap dancing amidst the chaos. The film is even more significant as it will be directed by director Kang Hyung Chul known for film such as “Tazza: The Hiden Card” ; Sunny ,and “Scandal Makers”.

Solo Debut

At the end of June SM Entertainment announced D.O.’s solo debut scheduled for July 26th with his first Mini Album, making him the 5th EXO member to debut as a solo artist.
