On March 10, 2021, various media outlets began reporting news that Big Hit Entertainment reportedly changed its name to HYBE Corporation. Later the same day, the company itself announced its intentions to change its name to HYBE Corporation, the statement reads “…comforting and inspiring people around the world through our music and artist, Big Hit Entertainment continues to make new innovations to the music industry business model. Big Hit strives to become the world’s best music-based entertainment platform company.”

On March 19, 2021, Big Hit Entertainment Co., Ltd. announced that it had changed the company’s name to adapt to the new image and achieve new horizons added to its existing business areas. Big Hit Entertainment had grown over time to become a multi-label company, operating and providing services in different businesses and areas, therefore, Bang Si-HyukcEO and co-founder, saw that the name Big Hit Entertainment did not fully encompass the true meaning and purpose of the company. Big Hit Entertainment began working in areas that were not traditionally covered by entertainment companies, such as the 360 business, the intellectual property business and the education sector. Because of this, the name Big Hit Entertainment no longer fit the agency, and they needed a new name

During the presentation, it was announced that the identity of Big Hitwould not be lost and a new sub-label would be created. At the same event, they announced Big Hit Music as the official name of this new label making it part of HYBE Corporation and HYBE Labels. This new label is set to work independently from HYBE Corporation in the areas of music production, artist management and fan communication

The rebranding took effect on March 31, 2021
